Wedding Hotels -- What We Picked

Well, this was not easy. For girls planning a NYC wedding outside of a hotel, this will be a big project for you.  I've heard others have not had this issue -- but almost everyone I know who has gotten married in NYC has done so in a hotel. Thus eliminating the dreaded hotel-room-hunt.

We wanted to offer guests a range of hotel options. However "high to low" is subjective in NYC. Lets be honest, what decent hotel is actually cheap? Very few.

After determining how many rooms we expected to need, I thought we would be able to find one hotel to house all of our guests. Easy peasy, right? Wrong. Very wrong!

Many hotels wouldn't give us more than 15 rooms a night. Because "it's NYC, we don't do wedding blocks."  Umm...okay? I thought the tune should have gone more along the lines of "it's NYC, we can do anything!" But I guess not on this topic...

So we were forced to reserve a handful of hotels and allow guests to choose.

We ventured out to many hotels, hoping we could narrow the search by choosing the hotels with the most spacious rooms at the best rate. Again, "most spacious" is sort of a moot point. Spacious in NYC is 300 square feet.

I must admit we didn't find too many terrible rooms -- with the exception of a $500-a-night, closet-sized room with a view of a trash-laden alley. Ahh, city life.

In the end we choose three hotels: two W Hotels and Ink48, a Kimpton hotel, mainly for their proximity to our venue. And because they offered the best rooms at the best deal.

Here are a few shots from our hotel-search-adventures --

A lighting fixture at Ink48:

And various animal print robes at Ink48 (because, really -- who doesn't need an animal print robe during a hotel stay?):

A view from the 55th floor at the W Times Square:

Can you imagine living in this building?  I was nervous just looking at those lounge chairs up so high:

A very pretty hotel bathroom -- I love the sink:

Luckily we left with some Bliss goodies:

And got a ride home from the hotel's Acura program -- did you know this existed?   The driver will take you anywhere in Manhattan below 86th Street FOR FREE.  Our driver said last weekend he took a few couples to Studio450 -- our wedding venue!

And if our guests want to find their own lodging, that would, of course, be fine too.  After all it's New York City, and the options are endless.

Plus I always seems to have "H-O-T-W-I-R-E, hotwire.com" in my head after every one of their commercials.

See you in November...

xx,
The Future Mrs. Wolf

  2. Yes, it is also good one. Even Ireland also has so many good hotels. And the place is also very beautiful to get married. My friend got married there. It was really beautiful.

  3. Getting a good wedding hotel is really necessary for a wedding. Many times I have seen that people get a bad experience of their wedding due to poor services of wedding hotel. Wedding is not a little thing. It requires a lot of arrangements. One should always choose a good hotel where they can get good services. Recently we had my sister's wedding in a Killarney wedding hotel. It is a big five star hotel. They provided amazing services.
